Laser cutting is the digitally controlled aim of a high-wattage laser at a flat-stock material to be cut, etched, or scored. Depending on the material, the material within the kerf will either melt, burn, or vaporise away. The cut is assisted by a jet of high pressure gas to force debris down through the kerf, leaving a high quality surface finish to the material edge.
