Opening ZPrint
- Open the Zprint software from the Desktop folder "Applications."
- Choose the file type (*.STL, *.WRL, or *.3DS) to open.
Setting Units
- If the EZ Print box is checked, please deselect it.
- The software will prompt you to select the units the model was
created in.
- Even if you were working in inches in SolidWorks, it may have exported your *.STL in millimeters.
Rescaling
- If the part is too big to fit in the machine, ZPrint will prompt you to rescale it.
Note: Recheck the size of the model once you have imported the
file. The default grid in ZPrint is made up of one inch
squares.
Inverted Normals
- If the model has inverted normals, ZPrint will prompt you to correct their orientation. Click the Yes tab.
Note: If there are still a mixture of white and dark gray facets
(non-agreeing normals) you may need to revisit your construction in the
originating CAD software to correct the normals. Then you may re-import the file
into ZPrint.
Finishing Up
- Select your printer of choice: Click on File > 3D print setup -
the Z310 is our smaller, more economical printer; the Z510 is the
larger one - make your selection here.
- To add more objects to your build collection, select File > Import.
- When you have imported your parts, save the file. This is the
file that you will need to upload as part of your request in the RPC Job Submission System to get 3D-printed.
