Accepted Forms of Payment
The RPC's preferred form of payment is the
Bearcat Card. In extenuating circumstances the RPC will accept payment by credit card though our Skipjack system, which is accessible from the
College of DAAP Online Payment page. In the Skipjack payment form please set the
Purpose of Payment field to
RPC. Please print the receipt, put your job number on it and bring it to the RPC in order to retrieve your parts.
Effective April 1st, 2011 the RPC will no longer accept payments by cash or check.
Laser Machining Pricing
Laser machining for the BEAM Dynamics laser cutter is priced at $0.50 per minute of
machine time with an additional amount to cover the assist-gas used.
The smaller Epilog machine is $0.43 per minute. An estimated cost is
given to the student to approve. If the actual machine time is less,
then the final price goes down accordingly. If the actual machine time
exceeds the estimate, the estimated price is the final price. For both
laser cutters there is a $10.00 base charge per machine set-up which
usually means per piece of material loaded into the laser.
The pricing of the laser machining also takes complexity of the geometry into consideration. Information on geometry complexity can be found on the Laser Complexity Definitions page.
3D Powder Printing Pricing
- Z310 - $3.50 per cubic inch + $0.05 per minute of build time
- Z510 - $4.25 per cubic inch + $0.06 per minute of build time
- Powder Pricing Procedure
- EnvisionTEC - $0.28 per gram + $0.02 per minute of build time
CNC Programming Pricing
- Bridgeport: $0.40 per minute with a $10.00 base-charge
- Komo router: $0.40 per minute with a $10.00 base-charge
- Tarus 5-axis mill: $0.50 per minute with a $15.00 base-charge
In all cases, an
estimate is given the student to approve. If the actual programming
time is less than the estimate, the final price for programming goes
down accordingly. If the actual programming time is more - the
estimated price stands.
CNC Machining Pricing
- Bridgeport: $0.35 per minute with an $8.00 base-charge
- Komo router: $0.40 per minute with a $10.00 base-charge
- Tarus 5-axis mill: $0.40 per minute with a $25.00 base-charge
In all cases, an estimated cost is given
to the student to approve - the lesser charge between the estimate and
the actual time is the final charge for machining.
Additional charges for special set-ups, fixtures, tooling, etc. may be
included in CNC milling projects.
Other Pricing
- Urethane/polyurethane adhesives carry a $4.00 base charge for each setup to cover supply costs. In addition to this there is a $0.40 charge per ounce of adhesive mixed for use.
- Urea formaldehyde adhesive carries a $6.00 base charge for each setup to cover supply costs. In addition to this there is a $0.40 charge per ounce of adhesive mixed for use.
- The RPC has 20 and 40lb density urethane foams available for sale. The cost is directly related to how efficiently the piece can be cut from its original sheet to account for any waste.
